Bollywood stars who became victims of abusive incidents from fans

Celebrities are treated and worshipped as God, but sometimes this treatment goes too far and fans forget that celebs too are human; that they might get hurt, afraid, and experience emotions just like we do. And instances of such incidents where people have gone too far while interacting with their favourite celebrity are just too many. Here we bring you a list of the B-town stars who became victims of obsessive fans turned abusive.

Jacqueline Fernandez

The incident took place a day before the trailer launch of the film Judwaa 2, when 50 pairs of twins, after winning a contest, were invited for the event with the cast. As part of their prize, all of them were promised that they would get to spend time with the leads—Varun Dhawan, Jacqueline and Taapsee Pannu. However, one pair of twins out of the fifty tried to misbehave with Jacqueline.

According to reports in the media, a contestant had told Mid-Day, “The plan was amended after a few male contestants from the group crossed the line of decency. An over-enthusiastic pair barged past the security, nudging aside the bodyguards, and got to Jacqueline. They wanted to click selfies with her and tried to get uncomfortably close. She tried to oblige, but, their aggression must have put her off,” one of the contestants told the media. “The two were asked to leave and our original plan of activity cancelled. The rest of us were disappointed, but we understood that the call that was taken was an essential one,” the contestant further added.

The trio, however, didn’t want to disappoint the others who had arrived from all over the country and post minor changes to the plans, interacted with them and entertained them. Kudos to them for being such a sport.

Ileana D’Cruz

\A few months back, Ileana took to social media to talk about her experience of being harassed by a fan during the promotions of Badshaaho. The actress spoke about the larger problem of people not treating celebrities like human beings. This is what she wrote:

Kareena Kapoor Khan

Back in 2005, she was harassed at an event when a few fans tried to touch her inappropriately. Being the bindass person she is, she kept her cool and left the spot in a rush. A similar incident took place on the sets of Bajrangi Bhaijaan, when the actress found herself crushed between a mob. According to the media, Kareena handled the incident “well”. The actress hasn’t been really vocal about the issue in public.

Vidya Balan

Vidya Balan’s unpleasant experience at the Kolkata airport during Kahaani promotions is something we are all aware of, and it still makes us feel uneasy to this day. A fan requested to click a selfie with her and after she obliged, the fan got too close for her comfort and tried to put his arm around her—not once but twice, despite the actress asserting that she didn’t want this. We wonder if these people have ever heard the word “consent”. According to reports back then, Vidya admitted that she is a “public figure”, but also pointed out that she is “not public property”. Very important to distinguish between the two indeed.

Priyanka Chopra

The ever smiling and bubbly Priyanka Chopra is known for her no-shit attitude, both on and off screen. In an interview with Times of India, she had revealed that she had slapped a fan on the sets of Anjaana Anjaani. The actress was quoted as saying, “I slap a lot. I think once a fan misbehaved with me, I don’t know if he was a fan but, I came out of my trailer when I was shooting for Anjaana Anjaani. He just came and held my arms. I am very good at taking pictures and everything, but I don’t like physically being touched. So he just held my hand and started asking for pictures. I got really scared so I grabbed his collar and slapped him. Then I got so scared, I ran away.”

Sushmita Sen

Back in 2008, a fan really brought the word “crazy” to life. According to reports, the actress started receiving expensive gifts from an anonymous fan, who then started stalking her and threatened to marry her. His marriage proposals soon turned into murder threats and the actress had to file a police complaint. There have also been reports of Sushmita being groped by fans when she was getting into her car during an event the same year.

Salman Khan

Salman Khan, who is known for losing his cool very often, had reportedly slapped a fan at a promotional event for Bodyguard. According to reports, the fan, who was in his mid-20s, got too excited on seeing Bhai and in turn tried to hug and kiss him. That’s when Khan lost his cool and gave the boy a tight slap.

John Abraham

The incident took place in Mangalore in 2012, when John went for the inauguration of a jewellery showroom. A female fan got so excited on seeing the actor that she grabbed his hand and bit him. In an attempt to save himself, Joh had to slap her for the outrageous behaviour.

Mika Singh

The king of controversies reportedly slapped a doctor during a live concert in Delhi on April 11, 2015. The reason? The doctor was apparently trying to harass a woman in the audience when Mika spotted him and called him on stage only to slap him in front of the entire crowd. That’s some hero-level work, we must say.

Shah Rukh Khan

The one actor who is known for his stardom and love all across the globe was once again mobbed by fans during the promotions for Jab Harry Met Sejal. However, he lost his temper when a fan tried to get too close for comfort and pushed him back. What is a man to do in such a situation?
