Eid days are the two occasions were Muslims can rejoice and celebrate, so fasting on those days are not allowed.

Prophet dis-couraged Muslims from fasting on Idul Fitr, mainly because, as already, Muslims had fasted for over 30 days, so Eid would be a sort of break. Say for example, if you have missed fasting on any of the days and you want to complete the remaining counts by observing it on Eid, then there is no problem with it.

There are certain occasions when fast becomes unlawful; these are:

1) Fasting the first day of the month of Shawwal (after Ramadan) (Eidul-Fitr).

2) Fasting the tenth day of the month of Thul-Hijjah (Eidul-Adha).
