CBSE to Reduce the Load on Students; ‘One Book For One Term’ to be Implemented

Central Minister of Human Resource Development, Prakash Javedkar has said that the schools running under CBSE will shift to a system of ‘One Book per One Term’ from next year . He is also planning to include physical training, skill development and value education as a part of the regular curriculum.

Minister explained that NCERT is planning to arrange the syllabus and prepare books according to the needs of each term. Currently students are going through the plight of having been forced to bring the books for the entire term on a daily basis. This is all set to change and soon “we will see three different books for three terms” said the minister.

“It is under the instruction of Narendra Modi that the syllabus is being rearranged. Human Resource Development had sought the opinion of the public about the same matter. The ministry received about 37000 instructions and is currently being analysed by an expert team. But this will take time to execute. Printing of books are to be done by October and the entire process of upgrading the books will not be done before it. Therefore it’s kept for next year “said Prakash Javedkar.

Minister said that to improve the quality of teaching, already 15 lakhs of teachers are being given training and that soon the rest too will be getting it. He said the mentality to take up teaching profession only if you cannot make in to any other profession is not good.

Javedkar explained that to help higher studies, every year 25000 crores of Rupees will be allowed from Budget.
