Jaggery Jamun recipe for the festival of Ramadan

With a twist to the much loved Gulab Jamun, this sweet dish will make a delicious Iftar. Gulab Jamun are round balls dipped in rose flavoured sugar syrup, in much favour during the festivals like Diwali, Eid, Holi and Navratri. Now let’s try the jaggery twist to Gulab Jamun. The recipe will be enough to serve 2 and the total cooking time will be 45 minutes.

Ingredients
1.Khoya – 500gm
2.Maida-175gm
3.Cooking Soda-1/2 teaspoon
4.Cardamom Powder-5gm
5.Jaggery-2 1/2kg
6.Water-1 1/2 litre

How to Make?

Mix Khoya, Maida, cardamom powder, cooking soda and water. Make a dough out of all these ingredients. Using that dough make small dumplings.Heat oil in a Kadai and once hot start putting dumplings to the oil.Fry slowly till the dumplings get golden brown. During that time make the jaggery sugar syrup. After the dumplings become golden brown, take them out of the oil and put them in the syrup. After checking the consistency, garnish with pistachios and serve hot.
