Designated Mizoram Governor Kummanam Rajasekharan Receives Welcome, With Bible Wordings

Kummanam Rajasekharan will be sworn in as the new Mizoram governor on Tuesday, an official said on Monday.

Kummanam Rajasekharan reaches Mizoram House, New Delhi and welcomed with Bible wordings and prayer lead by pastor David Lalramliana. Mizoram resident commissioner Praveen Gupta and his colleagues were organizing necessary clothes for him before heading to Mizoram today.

Gauhati High Court Chief Justice Ajit Singh will administer the oath of office to him at the Raj Bhavan in Aizawl, State Protocol Officer David Liansanglura Pachuau told PTI.

President Ram Nath Kovind had appointed Kummanam Rajasekharan, the Kerala BJP chief as the governor of Mizoram on Friday as the tenure of the present incumbent Lt Gen Nirbhay Sharma (retd) ended.

Sharma was given a farewell at the Raj Bhavan as well as at Thuampui helipad by Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla, his cabinet colleagues, Speaker Hiphei, Deputy Speaker R Lalrinawma, legislators and senior officials on Monday.

Mizoram has had eight governors since NDA came to power in 2014.

According to Malayala Manorama, there were indications that Kummanam Rajasekharan would be given national prominence. There are also indications that BJP president Amit Shah played a role in the appointment of the Kerala BJP leader.
