Outburst among Congress Youth in giving RS seat to KC(M)

Mass outburst among the young Congress workers regarding the provision of Rajya Sabha seat to Kerala Congress(M) which once dumped Congress and waited anxiously for the LDF’s doors to be opened. Young MLAs who are more active in the social media than in their constituencies came strongly against this callous decision by the leadership.K.S.U. Kozhikode district committee members resigned unanimously in protest.

K.S.U. demanded to the young MLAs to refrain themselves from the voting process. The state witnessed Youth Congress protest in several parts and also 6 youth MLAs send letters to Rahul Gandhi, who is the Congress Prez. The reactions of young Congress MLAs are as follows:

V.T.Balram

V.T.Balram strongly expressed his resentment in giving the RS seat to Kerala Congress(M) which is not even a part of the UDF front. He said that this move had betrayed the Congress workers and was a huge humiliation of their spirits. Balram urged the Congress leadership to recheck the decision.

Hibi Eden

He considered the current decision of the leadership as contrary to the feelings which have been existing within the Congress in Kerala. The young MLA said that the decision was putting at stake the self-respect of Congress workers and also suicidal. It seems that the leadership has not learned anything from the massive defeat in Chengannoor, Hibi says. Without any views, the decisions taken for appeasement policies are the reasons for party’s lost face between the populace. Hibi Eden reminded senior party leaders that they had to take decisions for the people not for any parties or individuals. If the leaders have not understood this till now, the time is not far when the workers will be questioning them on the streets.

Roji M.John

He clarified that when they demanded that RS seat would be given for a young MLA, they raised the voice of a common Congress worker. But it turns out that Congress pledged their self-respect at Pala.

It’s not that they didn’t understand the coalition etiquettes, but the suicidal decisions in this regard should be regarded as the failure of the leadership. He also urged the Congress leadership to review the decision.

K.S.Sabarinath

Former speaker G.Karthikeyan’s son and a young MLA from Aruvikkara Constituency, K.S.Sabarinath reminded Congress of their ‘huge’ responsibility to beat BJP politically and ideologically. Congress has 51 seats and BJP has 69 seats in Rajya Sabha.

He demanded that a proper person with a strong voice to represent Congress should be elected to Rajyasabha, we should not show any negligence in that.

Shafi Parambil

He opined that the news which came out was not hopeful for the Party. Its unbelievable for the young MLAs including him who argued that Rajya Sabha seat should be given to a new face. Keeping apart all the coalition etiquettes, the Rajyasabha seat belongs to the Congress workers, this has been followed for many years.

What happened now is a defeat, the loss of confidence of the party is manifested through this early and unthought decision. He concluded his words with a stark reminder that the UDF front cannot be strengthened by weakening the Congress.
