Video Tutorial : Trikonasana

The name Trikonasana because the posture resembles a ‘Triangle’, and is taken from the Sanskrit words Trikona(Triangle) and Asana(Pose).Before you start the practice make sure that your stomach and bowels are empty. There should be a gap of 4-6 hours at least after the last meal before you do the practice which will ensure the food digestion and also provide you with enough energy to perform the exercise. Morning is the most ideal time to practice Yoga but if you can maintain the mentioned time gap between your meal and the exercise, doing Yoga in the evening also won’t do any harm.

For the beginners

1. Try to lock the back of your heel or the back of your torso against the wall to keep steady in the pose.

2. Throughout the Asana, ensure that your back is totally straight

3. Keep in mind not to twist along hips while twisting your body.

Precautions to take

1. If you have neck problems, don’t look upward. Just look straight and make sure both sides of your neck are evenly elongated.

2. For persons with high blood pressure, they should look downwards instead of looking upwards.

3. For persons with heart ailments, practice this asana against a wall while placing the top arm on the hip.

4. Avoid doing this Asana if you are suffering from low blood pressure, diarrhea or a headache.
