Asus Zenfone 5z to launch in India: See price & Specifications

The Asus Zenfone 5z will be launched in India on July 4 at 12:30PM and will be sold exclusively through Flipkart. The flagship smartphone from Asus was announced globally back at MWC 2018, and will finally go on sale in India next month. The announcement comes through Flipkart, which has revealed the launch date of the device through a teaser on its page.

Asus also recently launched the Zenfone Max Pro M1, which is sold exclusively on Flipkart. The partnership has helped the company keep the pricing competitive, in order to take on competition from Xiaomi and Honor. With the Zenfone 5z, Asus hopes to recreate that model, but with the high-end segment.

challenge Redmi Note 5 Pro

The Asus Zenfone 5z is a flagship smartphone from the Taiwanese company and is meant to compete in the sub-Rs 40,000 price range against the OnePlus 6 and the Honor 10. While the Honor 10 is also sold on Flipkart, the OnePlus 6 is sold on Amazon India.

Asus Zenfone 5z specifications, features

As mentioned, the Asus Zenfone 5z was unveiled at the MWC alongside the Asus Zenfone 5 (2018), and Zenfone 5 Lite. Asus hasn’t launched any of these three smartphones in India yet, and the Zenfone 5z is likely to be the first. As far as specifications are concerned, the Zenfone 5z sports a 6.2-inch full HD+ edge-to-edge notched screen and is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset with up to 8GB of RAM. There is also up to 256GB internal storage that will be on offer.

For photography, Asus has opted for a dual-camera setup at the back. This includes a 12-megapixel primary sensor with large 1.4-micron pixels and an 8-megapixel secondary sensor that allows 120-degree wide-angle shooting and portrait mode shots. The rest of the features include an 8-megapixel selfie camera and a 3,300mAh battery. On the software front, the device runs Android Oreo-based ZenUI.

Asus Zenfone 5z pricing

The Zenfone 5z is already available in a few markets with a price tag of €479. This roughly translates to Rs 38,000, which means it will compete with the likes of the OnePlus 6, and Honor 10 among others. Online availability will also mean that Asus has changed its brand strategy to take on the ‘affordable flagship’ segment.
