These are the Special Women who are Expelled from Sanjay Dutt’s Biopic ‘Sanju’

Sanjay Dutt’s biopic has been Ranbir Kapoor‘s best performance until now – that’s the general review after the movie hit the theatres on June 29. Rajkumar Hirani’s latest has already garnered positive feedback at the box office and fans have hailed the protagonist Ranbir Kapoor, as the best actor of the year!

‘Sanju‘ is a roller-coaster ride of everything a Bollywood flick can offer, thanks to director Rajkumar Hirani. He made Sanjay Dutt’s biopic with detailed research and perfect star cast.

The film also features an ensemble cast of actresses who play key roles of the women in Sanjay Dutt’s life. Dia Mirza plays his third wife and mother of his twins, Maanayata Dutt.

Anushka Sharma, who was last seen in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, plays a journalist who famously asks Ranbir (Sanjay Dutt) how many girlfriends he had, and he answers 350, minus sex workers!

Last, but not the least, Manisha Koirala plays Sanjay Dutt’s late mother, actress Nargis.

Put it aside, let’s look at the special women missed in Sanju movie:

In this 2-hour-42-minute long biopic, his two wives and eldest daughter didn’t feature at all! Let’s start with Richa Sharma, who met Sanjay in 1985 while she was an aspiring Bollywood actress.

They got married in 1987 and Richa gave up her Bollywood dreams, just like Sanjay’s mother Nargis did for Sunil. However, fate was cruel and Richa got cancer in the US, a little over a year of marriage. Sanjay returned to India due to films, leaving behind his first-born – daughter Trishala Dutt, in New York with her grandparents.

In 1992, a cancer-free Richa returned to Mumbai with Trishala, but Sanjay had already moved on with actress and co-star Madhuri Dixit! Richa later died in 1996 due to brain cancer but not before she filed for divorce.

Then, Sanjay found love in model and lifestyle coach Rhea Pillai while he was out on bail. This marriage too didn’t last long, and Sanjay and Rhea divorced in 2005.

Rhea is now happily married India’s tennis legend Leander Paes but shared this image with Sunil Dutt of the infamous riots.

In 2007, Trishala famously wrote an open letter Sanjay, requesting him to not marry anyone after reports of him marrying Maanayata Dutt came in news. But his daughter’s requests fell on deaf ears as Sanjay Dutt not only married Maanayata but has two children from her as well
