Not Everyone Can be an Aamir Khan or Kamal Hassan; Director Dr. Biju Lashes Out at Mohanlal

Yesterday, Mohanlal had faced the heat of media as the president of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists(AMMA), but one has to say that the legendary actor handled the situation well. There was a very visible change in the tone with which the organisation approached media through Mohanlal as he stressed the importance of media and film working together. But all has not gone well for Lal and his ‘double’ stand of being with the victim as well as Dileep is criticised widely. Dr. Biju, the award-winning film director is the latest to have come out openly in protest against Mohanlal.

Without mentioning the name of Mohanlal, he said the audacious and correct attitude of actors like Prakash Raj, Aamir Khan, and Kamal Hassan cannot be expected from Mohanlal. He said such an actor who says he is with the victim but then quickly adds that he will also pray for the perpetrator, should just be viewed as an actor who is acting for mere remuneration.

Biju then asked to look at the names of Lal’s films which often echoes misogynistic tendencies and feudalism. “Look at the kind of products he endorses, the type of TV shows he is a part of, his attitude to stay silent on social issues, his desire for Ivory tusk, his blog posts that don’t echo societies views”, Biju keeps adding points that are all aimed at Mohanlal.

He also says that the Star unleashes his fans association on Cyberworld and even calls himself the Complete actor. In the end, after enumerating all his complaints about Mohanlal(without mentioning his name anywhere) he asks, what more can you expect from an actor like that.

“The social and political awareness of actors like Kamal Hassan, Prakash Raj, and Aamir Khan Cannot be expected from all. The film is an art and a business, someone might approach the film as purely a business to earn money. He says such actors are heroes on screen and zeroes in real life.
