Here’s how to check WhatsApp ‘Last Seen’ of your friends even if it’s hidden

WhatsApp users are reporting a peculiar problem wherein their ‘Last Seen’ is being shown to their contacts despite setting it to ‘Nobody’ in Privacy settings.

WhatsApp ‘Last Seen’ feature can be enabled or disabled under Privacy settings, and the latest news is that some users are able to view when their friends and other contacts last used the app. The bug is being reported on WhatsApp Web platform while some users have tweeted that it was also spotted on the Android version of the app.

WhatsApp Last Seen bug was first spotted by WABetainfo, the website that tracks the latest developments surrounding the instant messaging platform. We tried replicating the bug, but it appears that it has been fixed both on WhatsApp Web and WhatsApp for Android. WhatsApp Last Seen is a useful privacy feature and allows users to set it to three viewing options- Everybody, Only Contacts or Nobody. As the names suggest, WhatsApp users can set their Last Seen to Everybody, and this is particularly useful for Businesses. Similarly, users can set it to Nobody or My Contacts depending on if they want to be visible to only their contacts or nobody.

Apart from Last Seen, WhatsApp lets its users control the privacy of the Profile Photo, About, Status and Live Location. Profile Photo helps WhatsApp users identify you if you share a common name with others. However, the ability to show the Profile Photo can also be controlled. ‘About’ is what WhatsApp ‘Status’ was earlier called, and allows users to set a custom or preset messages. With Status, users can set disappearing photos and videos and is similar to the Stories on Facebook or Instagram. Live Location, as the name suggests, lets you share your location with friends and contacts.
