“Shoot (illegal immigrants) down if they don’t return like gentlemen” BJP MLA

yet another controversy by a BJP MLA

While nearly 40 lakh people have been regarded as illegal in Assam, a BJP MLA created a controversy by saying the illegal immigrants should be shot down.

BJP MLA T. Raja Singh Lodh on Tuesday made a controversial statement saying that Rohingyas and other illegal Bangladeshi settlers should be shot if they did not return to their countries.  He posted his video message on a social networking site.  Singh is a member of the Telangana Legislative Assembly representing Goshamahal.

He posted his video message on a social networking site. This comes in the context of the Supreme Court-monitored exercise to identify genuine Indian nationals living in Assam which excluded over 40 lakh people from the final draft list of the National Register of Citizens. Singh is a member of the Telangana Legislative Assembly representing the Goshamahal assembly constituency in Hyderabad.

“If Rohingyas and other illegal settlers from Bangladesh do not return with ‘sharafat’ (in a good manner), then we have to teach them in their own language. They should be shot. Otherwise, our country cannot be in safe hands.” said Singh in a video message on social media.(sic) “All illegal settlers should be shot and driven out from our country. India supported Bangladesh during the 1971 war. Since then, a large number of Bangladeshis started infiltrating Assam where 40 lakh such people are still staying illegally. It is the responsibility of the Centre and state governments to send illegal settlers to Bangladesh.” he said.

He suspected a conspiracy to destroy India behind these illegal immigrants from Bangladesh settling in Assam. Singh in another social media message said all Muslims staying illegally in India should be sent back to their countries. “This needs to be done on top priority considering India’s safety. If they do not want to leave our country, we should drive them out of the country at gunpoint,” adds Singh.

Singh is known for making controversial remarks. He recently termed those who host Iftar parties as beggars for votes. He had once said it was because of the secular Hindus that the Mughals and the British ruled India for centuries. Singh has been booked by the Hyderabad police several times for his alleged provocative speeches and statements.
