Rahul Gandhi Wants P.M Modi to Pay 50% of the Share to Waive Off Loans in Karnataka

The issue of loan waiver was quite a topic in the Karnataka assembly as Siddaramaiah, who could only be the chief minister for a few hours had announced it’s waiving off. It was much awaited whether HD Kumaraswamy could keep up with this promise. Now Rahul Gandhi has targeted prime minister over the loan waiver and the irregularities that allegedly exists in the Rafale deal. He was speaking at Bidar, Karnataka, addressing a rally for the farming community ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

He said that the Congress had kept its promise regarding farm loan waivers.

Rahul said, “We had promised you one thing. We had told you that when the Congress comes to power in Karnataka, the first thing we will do is to waive off farmer loans. Do you remember? “The Karnataka government has waived off Rs 31,000 cr worth farm loan. We fulfilled whatever we promised.”

He turns to BJP. “Your people (BJP) had written in the manifesto that they would waive farm loans in Karnataka. I challenge Narendra Modi from this stage that if he has 56-inch chest, why does he not give 50% of the money required to waive loans. No, he will not do it. But he waived loans worth Rs 1.5 lakh crore for rich Indians but for the farmers of Karnataka, he cannot spend a single rupee,” he added.

Continuing his tirade against the Prime Minister over unemployment issue in the nation, he claimed that the high profile controversial Rafale deal had snatched away job opportunities from Indians as the plane would be manufactured abroad.

Accusing Prime Minister Modi and Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman of lying to the nation, he reiterated, “Nirmala Sitharaman Ji has lied to the youth of the nation. Prime Minister Modi has made fool of the nation and lied to us. She (Nirmala Sitharaman) said India and France have a secret pact and so they cannot reveal the price of Rafale aircraft. I asked France President if this is true and he denied.”
