India and Kenya hold similar perspectives on key global matters: President Murmu

India and Kenya share mutual perspectives on global issues and recognize numerous multilateral platforms for collaboration, President Droupadi Murmu announced on Tuesday. Hosting President William Samoei Ruto of Kenya at Rashtrapati Bhavan, Murmu underscored the need for joint efforts to benefit both nations and the broader Global South. Stressing their alignment on major global concerns, she highlighted active cooperation within regional and multilateral arenas, citing the African Union’s inclusion in the G20 during India’s Presidency.

Both leaders acknowledged the potential for collaborative efforts in various multilateral forums, as per an official statement. Murmu conveyed the Indian private sector’s eagerness to invest in Kenya, with several Indian companies establishing their East African operations there. Recognizing India as a significant trading partner and a major investor in Kenya, Murmu affirmed India’s commitment to supporting Kenya’s development.

Murmu emphasized the historical connection between India and Kenya through the Indian Ocean, fostering a robust bilateral relationship encompassing trade, education, and technology. She lauded the integration of the 80,000-strong Indian-origin community in Kenya, describing them as proud Kenyans upholding Indian culture within Kenya’s inclusive society. President William Ruto’s state visit to India, spanning December 4-6 at Murmu’s invitation, includes a high-level official delegation, highlighting the nations’ commitment to fostering collaboration and strengthening ties.
