Massive gathering at Chaityabhoomi in Mumbai to honor Ambedkar

On the 67th death anniversary of Dr. B R Ambedkar, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, along with Deputy Chief Ministers Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar, paid homage to the chief architect of the Constitution. This occasion, known as ‘Mahaparinirvan Din,’ marks a solemn day of remembrance for Dr. Ambedkar.

The leaders offered floral tributes at Ambedkar’s memorial, ‘Chaityabhoomi,’ situated in the Shivaji Park area of Dadar, Mumbai. Annually, thousands gather from across the state on December 6 to pay their respects to Dr. Ambedkar, who passed away on the same day in 1956.

In anticipation of the significant influx of followers, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) took measures by setting up temporary sheds, mobile toilets, drinking water facilities, and medical stalls at Shivaji Park. Recognizing the importance of this day, the Maharashtra government declared a public holiday in Mumbai on December 6, extending the closure of state government and administrative offices in the city and its sub-districts. This decision aims to allow people the opportunity to participate in commemorating the legacy of Dr. B R Ambedkar on his death anniversary.
