Stock Market: Sensex, Nifty end lower

Mumbai: Indian equity benchmark indices broke seven-day winning streak and ended lower in the volatile session on December 7. BSE Sensex settled at 69,521.69,  down 132.04 points or 0.19%. NSE Nifty ended at 20,901.20,  down 36.50 points or 0.17%.

About 1893 shares advanced, 1342 shares declined, and 81 shares remained unchanged. Top gainers were Power Grid Corporation, Adani Ports, UltraTech Cement, Cipla and Grasim Industries. Top losers were Bharti Airtel, HUL, ONGC, Apollo Hospitals and Tata Steel.

A mixed trend was seen on the sectoral front with auto, healthcare up 0.5% each, oil & gas index up 1% and power index rose nearly 3%, while FMCG and Metal indices down 0.5% each. BSE midcap index rose 0.7% and Smallcap index up 0.3%.
