Lucky draw to boost voter participation with prizes like diamond rings and laptops

The Bhopal district administration in Madhya Pradesh has introduced a novel strategy to boost voter turnout in the upcoming third phase of Lok Sabha elections. Through this initiative, voters have the opportunity to win attractive prizes such as diamond rings, televisions, scooters, bikes, refrigerators, and more, in a lucky draw organized as part of the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) program.

This move follows a noticeable decrease in voter participation observed during the initial phases of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, particularly in Madhya Pradesh, where the average turnout has dropped by over 8.5 percent compared to the 2019 polls. To reverse this trend, coupon boxes have been strategically placed in prominent locations across Bhopal, including New Market and major malls, where voters can submit their details for a chance to win prizes.

District election officer Kaushlendra Vikram Singh emphasized the initiative’s aim to raise awareness among voters and outlined the process for selecting winners. To incentivize participation, voters must display indelible ink marks as proof of voting to claim their rewards. Additionally, the administration has introduced the ‘Sahi Jawab Do Movie Ticket Paa’ initiative to engage young voters, offering them movie tickets as rewards for answering questions via a dedicated mobile number. Various organizations have contributed a diverse range of gift items for the mega draw scheduled for May 9, promising significant prizes to lucky winners across the constituency.
