Lightning destroys Alappuzha strong room CCTV cameras

CCTV cameras within the strong room at St. Joseph School, where voting machines were stored, suffered damage from lightning in Alappuzha district on April 30. The district collector promptly contacted candidates to notify them of the CCTV destruction.

UDF candidate KC Venugopal’s chief election agent, M. Liju, who also serves as the returning officer, lodged a complaint with the District Collector concerning the security of the voting machines. Liju highlighted the destruction of CCTV cameras in the room housing the voting machines in his complaint. Urgent installation of CCTV surveillance in St. Joseph’s HSS premises, along with the appointment of observers to monitor the strong room premises, was demanded by M. Liju to alleviate concerns and doubts regarding the security of voting machines.

Furthermore, the IMD has forecasted summer rains in 12 districts of Kerala over the next few days, offering potential relief to the region in the first week of May. Significant rainfall was reported in southern districts, including Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam, yesterday.
