CCTV caught Mamata Banerjee’s regular journalist stealing silver cutlery from the dining table

After much pondering the security staff chose to quietly inform the journalists that they had been watching them and knew what they were doing and requested them to put the stolen items back on the table.

They debated whether they should raise an alarm but they didn’t want to embarrass the dignitary in whose honor the dinner had been thrown.

The shocking thing is that later they have been identified as senior journalists and editors. The other dignitaries, who were present at the dinner, included a host of prominent citizens both from India and the United Kingdom and some politicians and industrialists. But the complete truth came out in the CCTV footage.

The journalists in question were apparently all senior editors “handpicked by their organizations” to accompany Banerjee on the tour, the report said. The footage reportedly showed a senior well-known journalist of a Bengali newspaper picking up a set of dessert spoons off the table and putting it into his pocket.

Reports say that the journalist is a regular on Mamata’s foreign tours. That the hidden CCTV cameras were capturing their every move didn’t occur to them. But journalists, who have a knack for observing finer details, seemed to have missed the cameras, for they couldn’t resist the temptation towards the sparkling silver cutlery that was placed on the dinner table.

All but one scribe, when confronted by security officials, admitted their crime and returned the cutlery. The hotel management told him if he doesn’t confess his crime, they would go to the police.

According to reports, the journalists turned out to be even mean as he put the stolen cutlery into his colleague’s bag, with the aim of pinning the blame on him!
