Arun Jaitley to break tradition; may speak in mother tongue

With the Union Budget to start soon, the nation is eagerly waiting for Finance Minister Arun Jaitley to deliver his speech and Budget plans.

Arun Jaitley might deliver his last full term budget speech in Hindi in order to have a direct connection with the rural masses, reports a national news agency.

Normally Finance Ministers deliver their speech in English for Union Budgets. He will be the first Finance minister to deliver his Union Budget speech in Hindi if he does so.

By delivering his speech in Hindi it will also help in establishing the fact that budget is for the ‘aam aadmi’, particularly the farmers who are in misery.

Jaitley’s budget speeches are 202 paragraphs long on an average, making his speeches the second longest of its kind.

Experts believe that Jaitley will focus on agriculture in his last Budget speech before the 2019 general elections.

All eyes will be on Arun Jaitley when he walks inside the Parliament building at 11 AM with the iconic cherry-red leather bag containing his Budget 2018 speech today.

Apart from Jaitley, only Manmohan Singh, P Chidambaram, Yashwant Sinha and Morarji Desai have presented the Union Budget for five consecutive years.
