IPL 2018: Chennai Super Kings wins the match against Bangalore

Chennai chase down low target put forward by RCB in just 18 overs. Score 128/4 (18), MS Dhoni 31*(23) D bravo 14*(17) were at the crease. 

Raina and Rayudu took the lead and started the hitting after RCB bowlers managed to keep them silent for some overs. Nothing seemed going in RCB’s way after that and the batsmen were getting confident with each passing ball.

Raina had to depart as Tim Southee took a brilliant catch just close to the boundary rope, Yadav got another key wicket. After that M Ashwin and de Grandhomme grabs a couple of wickets. CSK were 120/4 at the end of the 18 overs. Chennai needs 39 runs from 14 balls to win.

Earlier, in the 35th match of the VIVO Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018, Chennai Super Kings won the toss and decided to field against Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune.

RCB were in the pursuit of remaining alive in the tournament to qualify for the playoffs, but most of the batsmen proved a damp squib. RCB batsmen surrendered before CSK bowlers, especially Ravindra Jadeja and Harbhajan Singh who wreaked havoc by taking key wickets at regular intervals. Parthiv Patel did put up a fight and contributed a crucial fifty but he too fell. It looked as if RCB would not even last till 20 overs but Tim Southee’s cameo was crucial in the latter half of the innings as the kiwi scored 36 runs, the second highest score in RCB’s batting. A few extras came in overthrows but still, CSK managed to restrict RCB on a low total of 127 runs. IPL 2018:
