Man injured in a bike crash, awarded Dh300,000 as compensation

A motorcyclist, permanently disabled from a road accident in Al Ain, has been compensated Dh300,000 for the damages.

The Court of First Instance in Al Ain directed the insurance firm to pay the compensation amount after it was confirmed that the accident results from permanent disability to his face and body.

according to the official court documents, that the Asian man was riding a motorbike when he crashed into a pavement. The bike overturned several times before landing in the sand, results from several injuries to his head, legs and other parts of the body.

A medical report said the man suffered a deformed face and almost 50 per cent permanent disability to his body.

The medics also said the accident left the Asian man with 15 percent permanent disability to his brain, among other injuries.

After being discharged from the hospital and not being able to work because of the disabilities, the man filed a lawsuit against the insurance firm that covered his bike demanding that he’s compensated for the damages.

The lawyer representing the insurance firm argued for the case to be dismissed, as the man fell in the sandy area and not on the road, which is not covered under the insurance policy.

His claims were, however, dismissed by the court and the judge ordered that the insurance company compensate the man Dh300,000.
