Adding to the predicament of having been forced to submit to the whims and fancies of JD(S), Congress party suffered yet another jolt when one of its own MLA, Shivram Hebbar, brushed aside the allegations of BJP trying to offer bribe to his wife. Congress had released the audio clips earlier and Shivram Hebber said the tape was “fake and fabricated”.

The clippings released by Congress party were purported to be from a recorded call allegedly made by BJP leaders to Hebbar’s Wife, offering Rs 15 Crore and a cabinet berth to her husband if he voted for BJP in the trust vote. Hebbar in his facebook post said ” I learnt about the audio clippings of the conversation purportedly between my wife and BJP leaders later when I was in the assembly. This is neither my wife’s voice nor has she received any call. I condemn whoever has released such audio clippings for political reasons. This is a fake audio tape… “
Congress sources have reportedly said to have made plans to trap BJP MLAs three days before the trust vote. MLAs from Congress who could pretend negotiations were earmarked for the job. But right now they have caught up in a tangle that they are not sure how to unwind.
Congress party has already come under criticism for its ‘horse trading’ games and servitude to the JD(S), It will be interesting to see how they can fix this situation. Most Congress Members chose to remain silent on Hebbars statement, while MLA BK Hariprasad was reported saying that Hebbar’s statement was not an embarrassment for the Congress party.
Amit Malviya, who heads BJP’s National Information and Technology Cell tweeted “Facebook post of Congress MLA Shivram Hebbar from Yellapur, in which he denies his wife ever getting a call from BJP, calls it a fake audio clip… Shame on Congress for brazenly lying, spreading mis-information and media channels for lapping it up. It is all over regional paper “
