5 voices stifled and some silenced by the Islamic Fundamentalists in India

Ashwin Kumar S.G.

1.Madhavikutty(Kamala Surayya)

A born Hindu, a devotee of Lord Krishna later in her life decided to embrace Islam as said by her in her writings due to the vow of marriage with her by one ‘Sadiq Ali’ if she converts. Another reason for her conversion as came in various accounts suggest that she had been offered assembly candidature by many Muslim organizations and also that Ismail Merchant agreed to make a film out of one of her books. After conversion, she said that She had taken lord Krishna from the Guruvayur and renamed him Muhammad, which invited the wrath of Hindutwa organizations like Vishwa Hindu Parishad, RSS and also Shiv Sena who filed a case against her at the court. Some circles suggest her ‘secret Mulsim lover’ who goaded her to convert in order to marry and later abandoned her as the Muslim League MP Abdussamad Samadani. After Abdussamad Samadani walked out of his offer to marry her after the conversion she was totally depressed. During her communications with Leela Menon, her longtime friend and the Chief Editor of Janmabhumi Daily who deceased recently, she expressed her wish to come back to Hinduism which she could not do due to the threat posed by the Islamic fundamentalists. She wanted a Hindu way of funeral rites,
in which her body shrouded in white should be put near a lit ‘nilavilakku'(traditional Hindu lamb) accompanied by the chants of Ramayana. But that dream never materialized as the Islamic fundamentalists with the help of the then Kerala Government conducted her after death rituals in an Islamic way. However, she knew that beforehand as said to her close friend Leela, that a coming home would not be possible once you get into Islam.

2.Jamida Teacher

Jamida teacher, Secretary of the Quran Sunnat Society, received the ire of the hardcore Islamic fundamentalist organization Social Democratic Party of India(SDPI) when she came out strongly against the ‘Love Jihad’ carried out by the latter. She was in the news when she openly opposed the conversion of Akhila, a Hindu girl from Kottayam by making her fall into trap of friendship and making her succumb to the organized conversion methods. Jamida Teacher pulled over the veil of Popular Front of India and their concerted efforts along with other radical Islamic organizations to trap Hindu-Christian girls in love affairs and later convert them for using for terrorist activities. Many Hindu girls were made to fall in love traps and later converted and used for terror activities which include Nimisha from Thiruvananthapuram, Akhila from Kottayam, Shruthi etc. When Jamida teacher fearlessly came against it, even at a time when the organizations like CPI(M)  which boasts of the largest Hindu vote base remained mum, she was subjected to online abuses as well as death threats. For her outspoken stand on Islamic fundamentalists, her house was attacked by the SDPI goons which she alleged as a murder attempt. The Kerala Police sided with SDPI and registered the case as a mere ‘law and order issue’ done by a drunkard! The ruling CPI(M) front thanks to the media attention has lashed out at SDPI in a ‘softened tone’ for the killing of the SFI activist Abhimanyu recently, then had taken a stand completely supportive of the covert conversion involved in the Akhila-Hadiya case. Jamida teacher is currently living in a constant fear of the government supported Islamic fundamentalists.

3.Taslima Nasreen

Through her world-famous realistic work, ‘Lajja’ Taslima Nasreen brought to the fore, the terrible plight of Hindu minority in Bangladesh. She could not live in her homeland thanks to the death threats and attacks on her by the Islamic  fundamentalists in a Muslim majority nation and exiled to the UK. From there she came to India where the Government of India allowed her to stay in the country for some time. During that tenure, she was roughed up by the activists of Majlis Ittehadul Muslimeen(MIM) at a book release function in Hyderabad.A group of 20 MIM workers led by MLAs Afsar Khan, Ahmed Pasha and
Mosum Khan stormed the press club premises, raised slogans against her and attacked her with the chairs. All these she had to endure in a Hindu majority country for bringing to light the gruesome atrocities suffered by the Hindu minority in a Muslim majority nation. Taslima Nasreen, in spite of being a vociferous spokesperson for the minority rights, was never invited by any ‘so-called’ progressive Communist organizations in India to their programmes as a spokesperson against fundamentalism. Maybe because she stood for the persecuted Hindu minorities in Bangladesh.

4.Shireen Dalvi

With a proud status of the only woman Editor of an Urdu language newspaper, Shirin Dalvi was a bold Mulsim lady who had shown the guts to reprint the cartoons published by Charlie Hebdo for which the latter had been attacked by the Islamic State terrorists. But when those cartoons were reprinted in India, here too threats and protests came against Shirin from Rashtriya Ulema Council. She was arrested following the fringe Islamic group’s complaint and was later released on bail.

5.H.Farooq

H.Farooq

This 31 years old iron scrap leader was hacked to death in Tamil Nadu’s Coimbatore by the Popular Front fanatics for criticising Islam. Farooq had been a resident of Coimbatore’s South Ukkadam and was a member of Dravidar Viduthalai Kazhagam(DVK), a breakaway faction of the Dravidar Kazhagam(DK). He was a rationalist who constantly criticised religion and when some of his posts against Islam invited the wrath of fundamentalists in that religion, he was cold-bloodedly hacked to death. The Police tried to hush up the murder case through the pressure put up by the DVK was hard to resist. A realtor and a Popular Front/SDPI activist Ansath(30) surrendered before the Judicial Magistrate in connection with the murder. Farooq was murdered after he had left his Bilal Estate house in South Ukkadam at around 11 PM after receiving a phone call. He was on his scooter and nearing Ukkadam Bypass road when 4 people on a motorcycle intercepted him and hacked him to death. Locals found his body lying on the road afflicted with multiple stabs and cuts.
