Maryam Nawaz refuses ‘better facility’ in prison

Pakistan’s former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s daughter Maryam, who is currently lodged in Adiala jail in Rawalpindi in connection with a corruption case, on Saturday issued a statement saying that she had refused the offer to apply for better facilities by the Superintendent of the Jail. Maryam and Nawaz were arrested late on Friday night following their dramatic homecoming to Lahore from London via Abu Dhabi.

Minutes after their plane landed at Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport, Sharif and his daughter were arrested by National Accountability Bureau officials in connection with Avenfield Reference case. Following this, they were taken to Adiala jail in Rawalpindi where they were lodged in separate cells, reports said. The two have been lodged under the ‘B’ class prisoner category.
