Rajasthan C.M Makes a Controversial Statement About Lynchings in Her State

Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje on Monday said that mob lynchings happen all over the world and she would have to be “more than god” to know about every incident that happens in the state. Speaking to News18, the Rajasthan CM said that mob lynchings are not something new that’s happening in the state and blamed lack of jobs for the mob agitation.

“It happens all over the world, that’s not something happening in Rajasthan alone and if somebody is trying to say that why wasn’t she listening and why wasn’t she doing anything… it is very difficult because if at 12’o clock in the night in some remote part of Rajasthan something like this happens, I would have to be rather much than god to know exactly what is really happening,” she said.

“This is the problem that stems out of population explosions,” Raje told the news channel. “People wanting jobs…people are frustrated that they are not being able to get jobs. There is angst which is spreading across communities and people. That’s happening everywhere, not just in Rajasthan. It’s not something that is coming out of the state. It’s coming out of the people’s anger…reaction to their circumstances.”

Rajasthan has witnessed several cases of mob violence. The latest was on n July 20 when a man died reportedly in police custody after he was allegedly assaulted by cow vigilantes in Alwar district
