Paris: In badminton, India’s Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty entered the men’s doubles second round of the French Open Super 750 tournament. The world number one Indian pair defeated world number 34 Lucas Corvee and Ronan Labar by ‘21-13 21-13’. The Asian Games gold medalists will next face three-time world champions Mohammad Ahsan and Hendra Setiawan of Indonesia.
Two-time Olympic medallist PV Sindhu entered the women’s singles pre-quarterfinals of the event. Former world champion, Sindhu defeated Gregoria Mariska Tunjung in the first round.
Lakshya Sen and Kidambi Srikanth will be playing their first-round matches on Wednesday. Lakshya will play Arnaud Merkle of France and Srikanth will face Toma Popov Junior of France in their respective matches.
