Aryadan Shoukath Defies KPCC, Hosts Pro-Palestine Rally in Malappuram

“How does a rally in support of the people of Palestine become an act of rebellion?” Aryadan Shoukath passionately questioned a massive gathering during a pro-Palestine event in Malappuram on Friday. The Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) had issued a stern warning to Shoukath, the leader of a warring group and the son of the late Aryadan Muhammed, against hosting the rally, deeming it an act of defiance.

On the eve of the event, the KPCC had sent Shoukath a strongly-worded letter, threatening disciplinary action should he proceed with the rally. However, despite the ominous warnings and heavy rain, supporters of the Shoukath faction marched under the banner of the Aryadan Foundation from Up Hill to Kizhekethala.

“The Congress has always stood with Palestine. So, how does a rally organized by the Aryadan Foundation become a divisive act?” Shoukath inquired, addressing his ardent supporters.

Shoukath vehemently refuted the KPCC’s claim that the Aryadan faction had been previously warned about engaging in divisive politics. He pointed out that his group had organized two significant programs, one commemorating the 100th anniversary of Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad’s Congress presidency and another as a tribute to Aryadan Muhammed, which was held in association with the District Congress Committee (DCC). Distinguished leaders such as K C Venugopal, V D Satheesan, and M M Hassan had attended those events, he emphasized.

“I believe someone has misled the party leadership. That could be the reason behind such a notice. We will provide a detailed response to the leadership,” Shoukath assured.

The DCC had also cautioned Congress workers against attending the rally. Nevertheless, prominent figures like C Haridas, Riyas Mukkoli, V A Kareem, Veekshanam Mohamme, Vallanchira Muhammadali, and V Sudhakaran, among others, were among those who participated in the event.
