Five terrorists gunned down in anti-terror operation in J-K

In the ongoing encounter in the Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir, five militants suspected to be affiliated with Lashkar-e-Toiba were killed by security forces in the village of Samno. The overnight gunfight in the Damhal Hanjipora area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district resulted in the fatalities. The police official overseeing the operation mentioned that the identity of the deceased militants is still under verification, and the operation is in its final stages. Alongside the successful neutralization of the militants, a significant recovery of arms, ammunition, and other incriminating materials has been made.

The security forces, comprising police, CRPF, and the army, had cordoned off village Samno in the Damhal Hanjipora area following intelligence indicating the presence of militants. The exchange of gunfire between the militants and the troops began during the cordon and search operation, prompting retaliatory action. The clashes persisted throughout the night, with security forces launching a decisive assault in the early hours of the following day. Drones were deployed to assist in determining the accurate number and location of the trapped militants during the operation.
