White House Criticizes Elon Musk for Comments on Antisemitism

The White House has strongly criticized Elon Musk for endorsing antisemitic content on his social media platform, X. Musk supported a post promoting the false “Great Replacement” conspiracy theory, accusing Jewish people of stoking hatred against whites. This theory is commonly propagated by hate groups and is rooted in antisemitic beliefs.

In response, White House spokesperson Andrew Bates condemned Musk’s actions, emphasizing the inappropriateness of perpetuating such antisemitic narratives, especially considering recent tragic events. Bates cited President Biden’s commitment to denouncing antisemitism and reaffirmed the administration’s dedication to combating hate.

Expressing disapproval of Musk’s promotion of antisemitism and racist sentiments, Bates highlighted the responsibility of individuals to unite against hate and speak out against attacks on the dignity and safety of fellow Americans. As a consequence of Musk’s actions, several major American companies, including Apple, Oracle, NBCUniversal’s Bravo network, and Comcast, have decided to withdraw their advertisements from X.

IBM, in particular, emphasized its zero-tolerance policy for hate speech and discrimination, promptly suspending all advertising on X while conducting an investigation into the matter. The collective stance of these companies reflects a unified commitment to opposing hate and fostering a safer online environment.
