Security Forces Target 17 Naxals in Operation Prahar

Security forces in Chhattisgarh have identified 17 high-profile Naxal operatives for neutralization, following the recent elimination of 29 Maoists in the Bastar region’s Kanker area. Among the targets is Mandvi Hidma, also known as Hidmalu alias Santosh, a notorious Maoist commander with a long history of involvement in Naxal activities. Hidma, considered extremely dangerous, is known for his strong information network and proficiency in handling firearms like the AK-47. He is currently believed to be hiding in the Sukma forests of Chhattisgarh.

The operations in the Bastar division of Chhattisgarh have seen significant success this year, with 79 Naxalites killed in separate encounters. Over the past 15 days alone, 42 Naxal operatives have been neutralized through two major operations. The primary objective of Operation Prahar is to target top Naxal leaders who are responsible for recruiting and radicalizing young individuals into their ranks. This crackdown has put pressure on the Naxals, forcing them into a defensive position.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has affirmed that the operations against Naxals will continue unabated. He expressed confidence that Naxalism will be eradicated from the country in the near future, emphasizing the government’s commitment to ending the insurgency swiftly. The ongoing operation aims to intensify efforts to dismantle the Naxal network and bring the situation to a decisive resolution.
