Former Education Minister Returns back to Congress after felt like ideological misfit in BJP

Arvinder Singh Lovely who had switched to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) April 2017 ahead of the then MCD election in the capital today re-joined Indian National Congress citing ideological differences with BJP.

“Quitting Congress and joining BJP was not a happy decision for me. I was an ideological misfit in BJP,” Lovely said.

Lovely, a popular face in Delhi’s political circles, was a minister in the Sheila Dikshit government and held important portfolios such as education and tourism.

According to some reports, Lovely had quit Congress last year after he was upset with the party for sidelining him after the 2015 Assembly election.

“He realized that at the end, our own home is better,” Sheila Dixit, former chief minister of Delhi, said.
