Whatsapp has registered a new domain ‘wa.me’ which is a short link of api.whatsapp.com and it can be used to quickly open a chat in Whatsapp. Whatsapp users can type http://wa.me /(phone number) of the person they want to send the text. The link will automatically take them to the chat. So if you want to send a Whatsapp text to the number 9999999999, you have to go to your browser and type http://wa.me /+919999999999 , you will be taken to the link where you can message. By mistake if you put in the wrong number, the app will notify you as ‘phone number shared via url is invalid’.

But if you want to use this feature , you have to update the app to the android version 2.18.138. The other promised updates from Whatsapp- Stickers and group video call are yet to be released and Whatsapp said they are working on the Sticker feature before the release.
