Actor Arbaaz Khan accepts betting charges;lost Rs.2.75 crore

Arbaaz Khan, Bollywood superstar Salman Khan’s brother confessed before a 5 member investigation team in Mumbai’s Thane Police station on placing bet worth Rs.2.75 crore and losing it, ANI reported.

Arbaaz Khan who had been alleged of involvement in the IPL betting incident and accused of connections with the betting racket agreed that he had been in this business for last 6 years. The actor denied the allegations that he has made bet in this IPL season.

The summons was issued by the Thane police on Friday to attend today and join for recording his statement. The arrest of a bookie named Sonu Jalal led to Arbaaz Khan.DCP(Crime) Abhishek Trimukhe said that the 50-year-old actor-producer had reached the Office of the Thane Police’s Anti-Extortion Cell(AEC) for recording his statement. The AEC busted the betting racket including Sonu Jalan alias Sonu Malad, who is believed to be one of the top bookies of the country, on May 15. The Five member Investigation Team headed by Pradeep Sharma, Senior Inspector and Head of the AEC was successful at establishing a connection between Sonu Jalan and Arbaaz Khan.

PTI quoted another Police Officer that they suspect Arbaaz Khan had placed bets on IPL matches and wanted to scrutinize his bank transactions.
