Researcher develops new method to kill cancer cells

Mamata Tripathi, a researcher from Raipur, has claimed that N-aryl Hydroxamic Acid can be helpful in curing cancer.

Mamata said: “This can kill 70-80 per cent of cancer cells. We had done a lab test which was successful. Next step is to test on small living being like mice. This research took 4.5 -5 years.”

According to Tripathi if the research moves in the right direction then it can be an alternative to the painful chemotherapy being used currently to treat cancer. She added the metal complex of N-aryl hydroxamic acid are helpful on the breast cancer cell line.

“It is at an initial stage so cannot say right now if this will be an alternative to chemotherapy. But, if our research moves in the right direction then this can be a positive option. Also, it will be much less painful than chemotherapy,” she said.

“Drugs presently available in the market are very expensive. The primary lab test that we are conducting is also costly, but once we get into the phase of producing these, the rates would be lesser than those in the markets. Although we cannot say how economical will it be in comparison to other drugs in the market, but can assure you of the price difference,” she added.

Cancer is a life-threatening disease involving abnormal cell growth with the potential to invade or spread to other parts of the body.

Currently, Chemotherapy is the most effective treatment procedure for the deadly disease though it has painful side effects.
